Day 2
Morning session was filled with new technology presentation of each business segment. It’s amazing that those sophisticated technology can’t prevent me from yawning! But it’s nice to know that we do have those really hi-tech things. Something for a change of daily routine profit and loss review…J
Second half day was passed by workgroup topics discussion and preparation of the presentation. A lot of issues were brought up. Most favorite things, compensation package, recognition, clear career path, fair performance appraisal, work scheduling for field works, etc It was an interesting process, whereby we realized that we have so much dissatisfaction, so many things to improve, but at the same time we understand the limitation. Procedures, system, company profitability, and some political judgment that can’t be put aside. A bit frustration filled up the air, but we need to come up with solution. A bit strange though, but on the contrary overall I feel my pride of being part of my company is arising
Day 3
Presentation Day! No Power Point allowed! So role-plays are all around… J to think out of the box and optimize other talent of each person to came up with the most effective role-play to deliver the message.
And my group has successfully entertained the audience with kidnapping our Geomarket Manager, Steve Orr himself and the personnel manager, tied them up on a chair and striking on the stage!!! Yelling and banner were everywhere, asking for salary increase, recognition, quality time with families and all of those highlighted issues. It’s quite hilarious and fun I must say.
Issues, concern, frustration and ideas were flowing and filled up the air. This has given that comfort feeling to us, the participant, that company really want to hear us, give us a chance to express our thoughts. But after all, this whole three days it’s some kind of candy therapy for kids to shut down the cries. Short comfort but hardly fulfilled the real needs. ZZzzzzzz…zzzzzz………….. Fallen asleep at 2:52 with fingers on keyboard….
Despite the facts that we can’t put our expectation sky-high for the outcome of this Interchange. I must admit that Steve Orr, as the number one Slb management really has that charm which boosting our pride and motivation. He has the capability to turn everyone’s blood in the room into blue! (Slb basic color) He kept saying, “Be Arrogant! You’re the best”
(Damn..I hate this taxi …make me feel sick… I write this on my way to office all right)
Short discussion after the closing with Irma, my dear friend in this wild wide world Slb, we’ve come to conclusion that this creatures called Slb has that creepy power to change people’s character. Those who survive and recognized, most of the time has the same culture of being aggressive, ambitious, cold hearted, and the most important character in Slb, Arrogant! (Why do I suddenly thinking of my beloved ex-bos, Mr. Barake..J). On top of the mentioned situation, this company really offers dynamic environment, which might excite you and brings out the best in you (but then I again I guess the definition of the best is different to everyone depends on the values, belief and priorities)
Overall, this event is interesting and a lot of fun as well (at least I got two free t-shirt and one suitcase!) and bring home something to think about….
